The sheriff’s department normally seems to follow strict guidelines, but recently a different side of the police department has come to light. This happened in a football game at the Lemon Bay High School in Florida. A deputy from Florida became a beacon of energy and positivity during the football game.

In a world where these kinds of antics are not generally expected from members of law enforcement, this is a welcome step forward. This is not something you see every day.

Sheriff’s Deputy supporting a high school Football Team with some style

The deputy at the center of the limelight is called Ferrands. One of the funniest parts about his involvement was a signboard that said, “Cheer or go to jail”. It left no choice for the audience but to scream their heart out for their team in support, especially since the other choice involved incarceration.

The reports state that the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office also took part in the fun and posted some pictures of the performance of the deputy in the stands, trying to hype up the crowd.

“Yeah, we get a little carried away when it comes to supporting our teams” This statement from the sheriff’s office really showcases the love they have for their local high school team. Support like this from the community and those who are sworn to protect it can make all the difference on a bad day.

Case in point, the team that the deputy supported, won the game. They actually won the game, for real. Lemon Bay High School football team defeated the Bay Brus with an extraordinary 42–6 score. Now that’s a score! Needless to say, the response from people to this incident has been overwhelming.

Reactions of the audience

The Facebook post released by the Sheriff’s County Department is a testament to the response the little stunt in the stands garnered. It seems like people are recognising the good part of the police community in modern times.

“I love how deputies take time to get to know the students in our community.” The happy and friendly side of a police department is not always visible, as they are there to maintain discipline. And for that very reason, sometimes they have to act strictly. However, it does not mean that they are not humans and they do not have a good side to themselves. “Love the cheer or go to jail sign. LOL”.

Engaging with the community can help the sheriff’s department to come close to the local citizens and in a way it’s a lot of problems going on in the society if there is a mutual bond between the police authorities and a normal citizen.
