Ashlee “Mob Wife” Gambino shot up to stardom when the clips of her sparring with the people on Fremont Street went viral. Her show, Fremont Street Experience, spread like wildfire and, as a result, she attained celebrity status. The social media fame further propelled her to feature on the local ‘Tuff-N-Uff’ promotion where she fought in strawweight. However, what came as a shock to her fans, the MMA fighter recently got diagnosed with a deadly disease. While MMA fighters put their bodies on the line for several years, they also have to face the toughest battles of their life outside the steel cage. For instance, TUF veteran Mick Swick is currently engaged in a battle with cancer.

Gambino‘s husband, Travis Long, disclosed the sad news in a conversation with News 3. Markedly, the credit for pushing her for an athletic career belongs to Long.

MMA fighter ‘Mob Wife’ and her recent health troubles

Long revealed that Gambino was diagnosed with an aggressive form of pulmonary hypertension. The disease occurs when blood vessel pressure that leads from the heart to the lungs is too high.

This was the second terrible news that the Gambino family received within a span of a few weeks. Earlier, the couple who also appeared in Divorce Court lost their 3-year-old daughter to acute leukemia.

At the time, Gambino had to make the tough call to terminate her 20 weeks pregnancy.

Long in the interaction told, “She would only survive for a week or so if she continued with the pregnancy. Doctors were shocked she had survived that long.”

“I have kids, so I have to put on a mask, and I have to be strong for her,” he added later on.
