Domi and a third-round selection in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft were exchanged for forward Josh Anderson by the Columbus Blue Jackets on October 6, 2020. On October 7, Domi and the Blue Jackets agreed to a two-year, $10.6 million contract deal.
Domi was traded by the Blue Jackets to the Carolina Hurricanes via the Florida Panthers in a three-team trade on March 21, 2022, while still in the penultimate season of his contract with the Blue Jackets.
The club progressed into the 2022 Stanley Cup playoffs for a first-round clash with the Boston Bruins after recording two goals and five assists in nineteen regular season games with the Hurricanes.
In the team’s 3-2 victory over the Bruins to win the series, Domi stood out by tallying two goals and providing the key assist on a third.
It was hailed as Domi’s best game to that moment by several observers. On the first day of free agency in 2022, Domi signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Chicago Blackhawks. Domi was dealt by the Blackhawks to the Dallas Stars on March 2nd, 2023.
