M20: 'Wrong way' Fatal Crash

A passenger has died when his car was involved in a head-on crash as it went the wrong way up the M20. Police have arrested the driver, 37, from Orpington. A Toyota Corolla was reportedly travelling in the wrong direction on the London-bound stretch between junctions 4 and 3 when it collided with a BMW.

A Toyota Corolla was reportedly travelling in the wrong direction on the London-bound stretch between junctions 4 and 3 when it collided with a BMW.

The crash happened at 3.36 am Saturday morning and closed part of the M20 for more than six hours.

Police want to hear from anyone who might have dash-cam footage of the accident.

Statement from Kent Police:

"Officers investigating a fatal collision on the M20 London-bound are appealing for witnesses.

"Kent Police was called to the scene, between junctions 4 and 3, at 3.36am on Saturday 4 March. The South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service also attended.

"The collision is reported to involve two vehicles, a black Volkswagen Touareg and a grey Toyota Corolla.

"The Corolla is reported to have been travelling on the wrong side of the carriageway in the moments leading up to the collision.

"One man, a passenger of this vehicle, died at the scene. The driver, a 37-year-old man from Orpington has been arrested and is currently in custody.

"Officers would like to speak with anyone who saw the Corolla in the moments leading up to the collision, or who may have dash cam footage.
