Those fearing that the Thing might not be looking his most fantastic in the upcoming reboot of “Fantastic Four” may find solace in the first image of the character, shared via Empire on Thursday.
The still shows off the rocky frame of Ben Grimm (Jamie Bell) post-transformation. For Josh Trank’s retooling of the superhero saga, Bell’s Thing was achieved through motion capture and CGI.

Many fans were unsatisfied with the brief glimpse of the Thing offered in the film’s first trailer.
The hubbub continued when an international billboard showing the Thing leaked online, prompting backlash from fans who feared the new look didn’t do the character justice, wreaking havoc on 20th Century Fox’s plans to carefully control the film’s marketing imagery.
“Fantastic Four,” starring Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara and Bell, will bow in theaters August 7.
